Cape Town Waterfront & Attractions
Downtown buzz | Cape Town, South Africa
Often called Africa's most visited destination, the V&A Waterfront is the vibrant, beating heart of Cape Town's city life, and with Table Mountain looming over the whole scene, it's one of the most photogenic urban waterfronts anywhere in the world. Named after Queen Victoria and her son Prince Alfred, who personally tipped the first load of stones to begin construction of the harbour in 1860, the Waterfront has been the gateway to Cape Town for over 150 years. Today it blends that maritime history with world-class restaurants, galleries, and the constant activity of a working harbour, all framed by the most dramatic mountain backdrop imaginable. The Clock Tower, the historic red lighthouse, and the colourful working boats against the mountain make for iconic shots, while the lively energy of the precinct gives family and group shoots a natural, relaxed momentum. *Please note that the weather, especially the wind, can be unpredictable in Cape Town. Please be aware of this ahead of time and bring a hair tie!
