What is your love story?
R: I think once you know, you know. I knew I wanted to propose for awhile, and it was mainly a matter of figuring out the best way to do it. We've grown so much as a couple over the past few years, and I wanted to make sure I tried to make a special moment just that.
What made you choose this proposal destination?
R: Flippen Park is a beautiful park with great scenery, in a historic part of Dallas. We had pictures done at this park before for a previous life event, so it was nice to return. I knew I wanted to propose in a more secluded location, and I felt this park was a great place to return to.
What is your proposal story?
T: Leading up to the proposal, Reilly had told me that we were attending a university alumni event. Little did I know, a beautiful setup was waiting for me in the gazebo. Reilly talked about our love story and past memories, got down on one knee, and asked if our future could be one forever together. He surprised me by arranging for our families and closest friends to celebrate together after.

Anthony & Anna's Proposal Story in Chicago
How did you meet?
What is your love story?
On our fourth date I lost my keys at a restaurant. Anna never once judged me for making such a silly mistake, and she managed to make the whole experience be remembered in a positive light. Anna had to endure a day with a highly stressed Anthony, a towed car, and an evening of cancelled plans, all while never once complaining. If she could put up with me then, she could endure me in any state.
What made you choose this proposal destination?
Anna lives in the city and has great affection for the beautiful Chicago skyline.
What is your proposal story?
The night before the proposal, Anna told me she had accidentally missed her nail appointment. Knowing what I had planned, I gently insisted she try to squeeze in a last-minute appointment before our supposed “family Christmas photos” at 11 a.m. the next morning. Thankfully, she made it work. With just thirty minutes to spare, we arrived at the bridge overlooking the South Pond in Lincoln Park, where Amanda captured the most beautiful photos. Afterward, a limo took us to her parents’ house, where I had arranged a champagne celebration with our immediate families and closest friends. We ended the night with a dinner reservation at our favorite steakhouse—perfectly wrapping up the best day of our lives.
Best tip for proposing in Chicago
Winter proposals can absolutely be beautiful! A lot riskier in regards to weather, but proposing midday was absolutely perfect in my experience.

It was perfect! The day of, we woke up relaxed at an onsen hotel. Once I saw that the weather forecast was good, my stress melted away knowing that everything was perfect! We showed up to the park and saw that it was secluded with Fuji beautifully present without a cloud in the sky. Once I saw that Ayako was in place, I knew it was time. She was so happy when she said yes and got the ring. Ayako captured the moment beautifully!

Make sure you find someone who knows the area well so that you have flexibility finding the perfect location. Ayako was perfect for this!

What is your love story?
When we started dating, he would bring me homemade sourdough bread baked with cherries inside. I'd have it for breakfast every morning, and whenever it ran out, there'd be a new loaf ready for me. He's kept me well-fed ever since! Between that and the fact that he actually finds enjoyment sitting next to me and watching me play my nerdy video games, I couldn't have found a better partner!
What made you choose this proposal destination?
We're both huge video game and anime otakus (nerds), and I've always wanted to make my proposal in a place far from home and special for us. Japan was a no-brainer. He had visited 2 times before, and this was my first time. It was unforgettable, and I'm so glad I picked this trip for such special day.
What is your proposal story?
Scott isn't a huge fan of surprises, and it was definitely suspicious that I had planned something for us in the outskirts of Kyoto at 8:30 AM (We never do anything at 8:30 AM, haha!). That said, it gave him the chance to also prepare his own proposal for the same time. On the special day, we woke up, hopped on a local bus with the morning commuters, and walked up to the most beautiful small temple with barely anyone there yet. Kyoto is a busy place, so we were very lucky to be able to have our moment surrounded by the nature carefully curated by temple caretakers. We went with some symbolism with our ring choices, as Scott's design comes to a peak, and my design has a little valley. Because of the design, we can put our rings together like a train wheel on a track. They go together just like us! After the proposal, we made our way to a coffee shop our photographer suggested (Kurasu, it was amazing!), had an amazing coffee, then ate buckwheat crepes across the street. Once we were fed and energized, we went to the Nintendo store to geek out as a newly engaged couple. After that, we caught the sunset at Kyomizu-dera and got a new stamp in my goshuincho. Hilariously, while I was in the holy place getting my stamp, a stranger from Hong Kong walked up to Scott and started hitting on him! We didn't think much of it and when he asked to join us as we walked around the temple, we said sure. As we were taking photos, another tourist asked Scott to take a photo for them, which happened a lot. When I told our new "friend" that Scott always ends up being asked to take pictures, he said "probably because he's handsome, right?". I thought to myself, yes, he sure is! He ended up walking with us all the way back to Kyoto City, where we had to walk him to the train station and say our goodbyes. Otherwise, I think he would have followed us back to our hotel room! It must have been a bit of a surprise for him after we traded socials that we had actually just sealed the deal with proposals that day. Just another funny little story about our special day that we'll never forget!
Best tip for proposing in Kyoto
Definitely do it early, Kyoto is a very famous city visited by travelers from all over the world. From what we hear, it is peak tourism season every day of the year there. Make sure you're respectful of the locals, especially in places of worship like the shrines and temples. We found that knowing a little bit of Japanese goes a long way when interacting with folks at temples and restaurants.

What is your love story?
We instantly clicked on our first date and things just took off from there. Our connection felt so natural from the very beginning and seemed to grow stronger every day. I feel like it was a bit of the cliché “when you know, you know”. She very quickly became my best friend, biggest supporter, biggest source of motivation, my calm, and my safe space. Time moves so slow when we’re not together but seems to fly by when we’re together. I’ve known for a while now that she’s the one I want to spend the rest of my life with, and that there’s no one else in the world who could ever make me feel as loved or happy as Ashley does.
What made you choose this proposal destination?
Edinburgh is her favorite city in the world, so I wanted to give her a new favorite memory in her favorite city.
What is your proposal story?
I suggested that we get up early and walk down the Royal Mile to watch the sunrise before grabbing some coffee and pastries at The Milkman Coffee. As we finished our coffee, I told her I wanted to see the view of the castle from the Vennel Steps since we had a tour scheduled later that morning. We were both admiring the view as we walked up the steps and I suggested we take a picture once we got to the top. As I put my phone in my pocket after our picture, I pulled out the ring, got on one knee, and asked her to marry me!

Well it may seem like nothing but when I asked her out on our 2nd date (our first date wasn't so good) she could have said no and given any old excuse but this girl actually made time for me. She called in to work to hang out with me. And no one has ever put in effort like that for me.

It was easy, we had such a fun first date, neither of us wanted to leave. We ended up setting up another date not even a week later, and kept seeing each other at least twice a week until we made it official a few weeks later. It hasn’t been an easy relationship all the time, but we’ve both been able to learn and grow with one another, which isn’t something either of us was used to.

Being from Florida, it doesn’t really feel the funnest when holidays that come with different seasons happen. I love Christmas and wanted to experience a different kind of winter than what we’re used to here with hot days all the time. We agreed somewhere with snow and with the Christmas spirit (even if it’s a month early.) Prices for flights and accommodations were roughly the same going to places in the US so we thought why not go somewhere neither of us have gone before and experience something new.
What is your proposal story?
Well, our initial flight to Canada was cancelled so we had to get a later flight in than we originally planned. We arrived in Canada at midnight Tuesday morning and didn’t get to our Airbnb to sleep until 2am. Our photos were scheduled for 8am and were about 30 minutes away so we were already tired from traveling and then having to wake up early after little sleep to get ready for the photos was rough. But we finally get to the lake where we’re taking the photos, meet Darine and start taking a few pictures when it gets super windy that we have to move around the lake because it was blowing our hair crazy! Eventually, we take a few more, I propose, she cries and it’s the best moment. The photos we took after were even better because there was no stress or worry about anything, it was just the best time.
Best tip for proposing in Banff
Just be mindful of when and where you’re going to do it. It’s a busy place so making sure you plan around there being crowds. Also, don’t forget to plan around the weather.

What is your love story?
We met through mutual friends, and from the very beginning, everything just felt natural and effortless. There was a quiet understanding between us — we could talk about anything, or simply enjoy the silence together. Over time, I realized that love doesn’t always arrive with fireworks; sometimes it comes gently, like a calm morning light that slowly fills your world. I knew they were “the one” not because of a single grand moment, but because of countless small ones — the laughter, the shared dreams, and the steady sense of peace whenever we were together. They make ordinary days feel meaningful, and that’s when I understood this was the person I wanted to share every chapter of life with.
What made you choose this proposal destination?
Kyoto has always held a special place in our hearts. Its quiet beauty, gentle atmosphere, and timeless charm make it feel almost magical. I wanted the proposal to happen in a place that reflects what our relationship feels like — calm, sincere, and deeply meaningful. The combination of history, nature, and elegance in Kyoto made it the perfect setting to begin our next chapter together. Every corner feels like a memory waiting to happen, and I couldn’t imagine asking such an important question anywhere else.
What is your proposal story?
The proposal took place on a quiet afternoon in Kyoto — the air was calm, the light soft, and everything seemed to move just a little slower than usual. We were walking through the garden, surrounded by the sound of leaves rustling and water flowing nearby. It felt like time had stopped for a moment, just the two of us and the peaceful beauty around us. When the moment felt right, I took a deep breath, looked into their eyes, and told them how much this journey together has meant to me — how every day with them feels like home. Then I asked the question I’d been waiting to say for so long. There were no crowds, no big audience, just an honest, quiet promise shared between us. It was simple, sincere, and perfectly us.
Best tip for proposing in Kyoto
Kyoto is all about atmosphere — the stillness, the light, and the beauty in simplicity. My advice is to plan less around the perfect spot and more around the perfect feeling. Find a quiet garden or temple early in the morning or close to sunset, when the crowds are gone and the air feels calm. That peaceful moment will make your words even more meaningful. Also, take your time — walk together, talk, laugh, and let the proposal happen naturally when it feels right. Kyoto has a gentle way of slowing everything down, allowing you to truly be present. And if you can, capture it with a local photographer — they know the light, the mood, and the magic of the city better than anyone.

When I was growing up my mom used to make taho, a special filipino dessert with brown sugar and tofu. It is very difficult to make. I knew Michelle was the one when she asked me what my favorite dish was. Then she made it for me perfectly! It was like I was a kid again! It showed Michelle's great listening skills and thoughtfulness. I knew I wanted to marry such a kind and giving person. It was really hard to choose just one instance beucase I have many instances of me wanting to marry Michelle such as her making me taho!

What made me choose Kyoto to propose was because it was our first international trip together and she's always dreamed of visiting Japan. I wanted to make the trip extremely memorable, so I invited her best friends to join us!
What is your proposal story?
Our proposal story was Coo (our photographer) was going to act as a tourist photographing the area and he would pretend to take our picture and then I would bend down on one knee to surprise her! I'm not good at keeping surprises, so Michelle had an idea, but she didn't know about the photographer. It went so smooth! Coo was great and hit his marks perfectly! Me, however, I was a nervous wreck!!! She could see my legs shaking as I bend down on one knee and take the ring out. I stumble through my words but man, it was hard not to get emotional! I don't even remember what I said! But all that matters is that she said YES!!!

Trenton & Erin's Proposal Story in Joshua Tree
How did you meet?

What is your love story?
Erin and I first met our sophomore year of college. We met through a mutual friend and immediately hit it off. We went on a couple dates, then I asked her to be my girlfriend about a month later. I feel like I knew Erin was “the one” since we first met, but what really solidified it is our perseverance through living almost 200 miles apart for 3 years. That was the true test, and we both love each other just as much as before during that time.
What made you choose this proposal destination?
I had previously visited Joshua Tree with my family about 4 years ago. It was absolutely beautiful and very peaceful. I knew she would love the park and I decided that was the place. Being her first time there, she was absolutely stunned at the beautiful rock formations and the thousands of Joshua Trees.
What is your proposal story?
We started the morning at Disneyland and decided we were going to head to Joshua Tree around 1:30 PM. Being a photographer myself, I had told Erin that I was going to set my camera up on a tripod and take some photos, that way I could make sure she was wearing something nice and I didn’t give away the surprise. I had the shoot scheduled for 4:30 PM and figured 3 hours would give us plenty of time to get there. Little did I know it would end up taking almost 4 hours! During that time I was driving through LA traffic with Erin in the passenger seat falling asleep. I had texted our photographer when we stopped to get gas to let him know we weren’t going to make it on time. Thankfully, he was incredibly accommodating! Once we got there, we only had about 45 minutes of sunlight left, so as soon as we got in position, I had to pop the question. It was extremely stressful, but in the end it all worked out perfect and we now have a hilarious story to tell!
Best tip for proposing in Joshua Tree
Definitely plan accordingly if you are travelled from or through LA. Traffic is extremely unpredictable. If it rains at all, don’t worry, the rain showers don’t tend to last very long and it will more than likely be gone by the time you are ready to propose. Also make sure you schedule it at a time where the sun isn’t high in the sky, as there isn’t much shade. Sunrise or sunset seem to be the best times for photos at the park.
