Meet Brenda in Ucluelet

New to Flytographer!

I am a Mexican multi-disciplinary artist and photographer based in Ucluelet (Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ territory). A graduate of SFU's Film program, I bring a documentary storyteller's eye to every shoot. Drawing on my background as a meditation and dance teacher, my goal is to bring intentionality and playfulness to every session. With my calm energy, I guide you through the experience so you can simply be present in Ucluelet's stunning coastal landscape. My work celebrates people and the natural world that surrounds them. When I'm not behind the camera, you'll find me foraging for mushrooms, writing poetry, and lifting weights.

Favourite Place to Shoot: Wickanninish Beach, Long Beach, and the Lighthouse Trail. For those wanting more forest scenery, I suggest the trail toward Halfmoon Bay. All of these locations have stunning nature, a relaxing energy, and many great backdrops to choose from.

Three Things

  1. I love photographing moments of connection! It is a true honour documenting these heartfelt moments for my clients: whether between a couple, a family, or a person and their own self. As a meditation and dance teacher for students of all ages, I bring my mindfulness skills to create a relaxed and playful atmosphere where genuine moments can unfold naturally. With such stunning, ethereal backdrops, I love integrating Ukee's pristine nature into the visual story of my photographs.
  2. It is always my goal for a photoshoot to feel fun, joyful, and grounded. I find great joy in helping others relax in front of the camera and enjoy the beautiful nature we have here in Ucluelet. Worried about feeling awkward? No problem. I will guide you through easy, natural prompts so you can simply enjoy the experience and take in the scenery. My aim is to create a vision together, have fun, and have the end result feel meaningful and authentic to you.
  3. I always recommend exploring the wild coastline and old-growth forests. Some of my favourite spots include the windswept beach of Wickaninnish, the trail toward Halfmoon Bay and South Flo, and the Shorepine Bog Trail. The wildlife is fascinating; don’t forget to read the many educational signs along the way! For a cozy coffee break, check out Yayu, The Break, or Redd Fish.
