What our Paris photographers recommend

Based on more than a decade of photographing Paris, our local photographers agree on two things that make the biggest difference in your photos: the time of day, and where you stand, to capture that quintessential background without the crowds.

When is the best time of day for a Paris photo shoot?

Early morning, ideally before 9am. Morning light is soft, and the city's landmarks are still quiet before the day's travellers and locals arrive. This is why our earliest slots at Trocadéro and Montmartre book up first, and why a weekday sunrise session at Sacré-Cœur can look like you have the basilica to yourself.

Leo

“The best time for a photo session is the morning, before 9am. Beautiful light, and no tourists.”

LEO · PARIS FLYTOGRAPHER

Rachael

“I’ll get you in early so we have the best light and far fewer tourists in the background. It’ll be great!”

RACHAEL · PARIS FLYTOGRAPHER

Where can you photograph Paris away from the crowds?

Skip the busiest viewpoints in favor of the quieter spots our photographers know from years of daily shoots. They recommend Île Saint-Louis for a calm, authentic Seine backdrop, the Passerelle Debilly footbridge for the Eiffel Tower without the Trocadéro crowds, and the side streets of Montmartre in the morning before the Place du Tertre fills up.

Maria

“If you’re looking for the authentic, genuine Paris, I suggest Île Saint-Louis. Very quiet, no crowds, and the perfect light off the Seine.”

MARIA · PARIS FLYTOGRAPHER

Lucille

“If you want the fewest people around the Eiffel Tower, the quietest spot is near Passerelle Debilly. There’s a stretch along the river where hardly anyone comes, and it’s perfect.”

LUCILLE · PARIS FLYTOGRAPHER

Whether you're planning a family vacation, a surprise proposal, or a milestone anniversary, a local Paris photographer plans your shoot around these insider tips so your photos capture the city at its best. Frequently asked questions

How much does a photographer cost in Paris?

Our Paris photography packages start at $325 USD for a 30-minute shoot. View all pricing and packages.

Our packages are based on the length of your shoot and each offer a guaranteed minimum number of digital photos. We offer global USD pricing so that you can book any of our destinations around the world without worrying about currency conversion or changing package rates.

In Paris, a 30-minute shoot typically covers one backdrop like the Trocadéro terrace or the Louvre courtyard, while 60 minutes or more can let you pair two nearby backdrops, such as Trocadéro with Bir-Hakeim Bridge. There are no location or permit fees at any of our Paris routes, but our Must-See Paris route does require additional paid transport between stops since it crosses the city. Any custom routes may require additional fees before booking.

Is it worth it to hire a professional photographer in Paris?

Absolutely! Hiring a professional photographer in Paris is one of the best ways to turn a great trip into an unforgettable experience. Whether you're celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, family vacation, or once-in-a-lifetime adventure, a local Paris photographer captures the magic of your trip with stunning, frame-worthy photos you'll cherish forever.

A local professional photographer knows the city's best-kept secrets: iconic landmarks, hidden gems, golden-hour lighting, and crowd-free angles. In Paris, that means knowing the Trocadéro terrace is clearest at sunrise and shoulder-to-shoulder by 9 AM, which angle of Bir-Hakeim Bridge catches the morning sun, and which Montmartre streets stay quiet.

So yes, it's 100% worth it. You won't just get beautiful pictures of the Eiffel Tower — you'll earn local insights, skip the crowds, and bring home a treasured memory of your story in Paris.

Read reviews from travelers who say hiring a professional photographer in Paris was one of the best decisions of their trip.

How far in advance should I book a photographer in Paris?

We suggest you book at least a week in advance, although we will attempt to accommodate last-minute requests (but no promises). The ideal time frame to ensure you get YOUR preferred time/date is at least 4 weeks in advance, especially during peak seasons. In Paris that's May through October, and the weeks around Christmas and New Year. If your trip is sooner than that, you can also look for photographers with Instant Book, who can be booked immediately at their recommended time and route.

What are the benefits of booking with a Paris Flytographer rather than a local photographer directly?

Flytographer pioneered the global vacation photography category 13 years ago. With over 100,000 happy customers, 50,000+ five-star reviews, and a presence in 350+ cities worldwide, we know how to turn moments into lifelong memories.

We handpick and vet every photographer, hiring less than 3% of applicants to ensure world-class quality. They're not just skilled behind the lens — they know how to put you at ease fast, make the experience fun, and capture the real magic of your trip. They often share local stories and tips on what to see, do, and eat, so you get the insider experience and incredible photos.

Booking a Paris photographer directly gets you a local artist. Booking through a large platform gets you a safety net. With Flytographer, you don't have to choose. You get the experience with a trusted, local photographer in Paris, and we handle everything around it, including:

  • Consistent USD pricing (no euro payments or different pricing across photographers).
  • Every photographer vetted to our strict standards, so you don't need to spend hours researching, vetting and negotiating pricing.
  • A global concierge team available 7 days a week, reachable before and after your shoot.
  • Easy rescheduling and a backup photographer if yours can't make it. Unproven local photographers can cancel at the last minute with no backup. Ours are vetted, with our backing behind every booking.
  • Our guarantee on every booking: Love your photos, or we'll make it right
  • A private online gallery included with your package, so you can download your digital photos without paying per photo afterwards.

A trusted local relationship, backed by a company that's been doing this since 2013. No stiff poses. No stress. Just the best souvenir you can bring home.

What happens after I book a Paris photo session?

After booking, you'll receive your Shoot Scoop itinerary with all the essential details for your photo shoot and will be connected with your Paris photographer before the shoot day.

On the day of your shoot, meet up with your photographer 10 minutes before to go over your shoot goals.

Within five days after your shoot, you will receive your beautiful gallery in your inbox.

What should I wear for my photoshoot in Paris?

Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and like yourself. This matters more than any specific colour or style. Our general guidance after doing thousands of Paris shoots: avoid restrictive clothing, break in shoes beforehand, and think about how your outfit will look against your specific location and its colour palette. Avoid busy patterns and large logos, as they tend not to photograph well against Paris's classic, romantic architecture.

Comfortable shoes matter just as much, since most of our Paris Routes involve walking between locations like the cobblestone streets in Montmartre or around the Trocadéro. You don't want tired feet slowing you down from capturing all of the iconic backdrops. For more inspiration, check out our Style Guide and Outfit Tips.

For groups, coordinate rather than matching exactly. Discuss the vibe together, whether that's casual with jeans and nice tops or something dressier, and stick to complementary colours that'll pop against Paris's soft grey and cream backdrops.

Dress for the weather too: loose, breathable fabrics if it's hot, and layers if it's chilly, since Parisian weather can shift throughout the day.

Above all, wear something you feel comfortable in. If you don't feel like yourself in what you're wearing, it will show in the photos, so trust your gut and choose pieces that feel like YOU.
